Weed has a working-class honesty about it that a lot of people find refreshing. Named after Abner Weed, who founded the town's lumber mill in 1897, it grew as a company town and still carries that no-nonsense character. What it also has is some of the most dramatic mountain views in the county — Mt. Shasta looms to the east, Black Butte rises to the south — and prices that are meaningfully more affordable than Mt. Shasta City just up the road.
Main campus is in Weed. Community college with degree programs, athletics, and a strong local presence.
