Gateway to Castle Crags State Park — dramatic granite spires, the upper Sacramento River, and cabin-style living on the I-5 corridor south of Dunsmuir.
Cabins, retreats, and residential properties in the Castle Crags corridor.
Castella is a small unincorporated community on I-5 between Dunsmuir and Redding, best known as the access point for Castle Crags State Park — a stunning 4,300-foot formation of ancient granite spires that rises directly above the Sacramento River. The community itself is quiet and small, mostly residential and seasonal, with the park and river as the defining features. It's one of the more scenic locations in the county despite being right on the interstate.
Properties in the Castella area tend toward cabins, weekend retreats, and full-time residences for people who want dramatic scenery with I-5 access. Most properties are on well and septic. The area has seen interest from vacation home buyers and remote workers drawn to the Sacramento River and proximity to Castle Crags.
